Pimple Popping: A Big No-No!

Pimples are a common skin disease, which is caused when the oil glands in our skins get clogged and infected with bacteria. They can be found anywhere on the body including the face, neck and shoulders. It is believed that pimples can be caused by hormonal changes, stress, diet and other factors but generally pimples are just a sign that your skin has got clogged pores and it needs some extraction or cleaning.

There are a number of ways to clean your pores including using face wash, scrub or applying antibacterial lotion to make your skin pimple free.

However, should you pop your pimples? People with acne problems often do so due to emotional reasons. But most of them don't notice that it will only worsen the condition if they continue doing so. Once you start popping your pimples you should never leave a single one behind otherwise it will create more problems for you in the future.

Pimples are tiny reddish bumps on the skin which are caused when the hair follicles become infected with bacteria. They can pop up on your face, back, chest, shoulders, neck and even genital area.

Popular belief is that these should be popped to reduce their size but don't do it, folks. Popping them can cause further damage if not done properly which will later result in scarring.

There are two schools of thought about acne: those who believe it's a genetic condition and others who feel it's caused by dirt trapped in the pores. One thing most people agree on, however, is that popping pimples causes more harm than good.

What are the Causes of Pimples?

Pimples are a common and normal thing that everyone encounters at some point in their lives. Pimples are caused when the skin pores are clogged with dirt, bacteria, or dead skin cells. Such an accumulation generally leads to the growth of bacteria which causes inflammation in the form of pimples.

There are many causes of pimples. The primary cause of pimples is the blockage of the hair follicles. Here are some causes of pimples for you.

1. Hormones - Hormonally induced acne is common in people who are going through puberty or who are pregnant. This kind of acne is generally not severe and tends to subside after a few months.

2. Genetics - If your parents had acne, you can inherit a predisposition toward the condition.

3. Skin irritation - If the skin is irritated by any external agent like chemicals or bacteria, then it will lead to the formation of acne.

4. Acne medication - If you are using any medications that contain corticosteroids, then it can damage the skin and lead to the formation of acne.

5. Stress - Stress can also lead to the formation of acne, but this is a less common cause than the others.

Pimples are a common skin condition that causes inflammation, redness and acne. These pimples are caused by bacteria that infect the upper layer of the skin. There are different types of pimples, which can be facial, neck, back, shoulder and other body parts.

Post-Pimple-Popping Skincare

Popping a pimple seems a convenient way to get rid of flaws but the consequences are always overlooked.

  1. Popping a pimple can cause acne scarring due to the pressure applied on it, which can damage the skin underneath.

  2. Popping a pimple can lead to hyperpigmentation as well because it triggers inflammation that has the potential to cause discolouration on your face as compared to your surrounding skin.

  3. Pimple popping can induce infection because the area surrounding the pimple is extremely vulnerable to the invasion of bacteria.

Alas! We all are humans. If you could not resist popping your pimples and wondering, “What should I do after popping a pimple”, do follow up with these steps to prevent further breakouts:

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly with an antibacterial solution or soap.

  2. For spot treatment, you can use tea tree oil that fights against bacteria while reducing inflammation.

  3. Follow up with your skincare routine such as washing your face at least twice a day and apply the treatments necessary to prevent further breakouts.

  4. Use anti-acne gel to aid your skincare regime and get stress-free skin.

How to Pop A Pimple Safely?

The only safe way to get rid of pimples is to have patience and let it go on its own! If you want to treat your pimples, visit a dermatologist instead of taking things into your own hand.

However, pimples are a natural thing to occur on your face or elsewhere in the body. Popping them would release bacteria to your surrounding skin and it is a fact that your skin knows very well how to heal a pimple, probably better than you do.

Take Away

Pimples are those red, brown or blackish spots that appear on your skin. They are a common thing that everybody gets on their face and in some cases even on the body. Generally, pimples develop on the face, neck, back, chest and shoulders.

Some effective skincare tips for men with oily skin can help in preventing various skin issues because usually people with acne often have oily skin which can make it hard to determine whether a spot is simply a blemish or an inflamed pimple. In either case, you should never try to pop a blemish yourself; it could cause permanent damage to your skin.
