Summer is here and it's time to shift your daily dose of chai to refreshing lemon juice and stay hydrated. It is also time to change your skin care routine. Summers take a toll on skin and damage your skin severely. It takes away all the glow, makes your skin even oilier if you have oily skin and causes several infections.

Here are few trips and tricks to save your skin from the scorching summers

Exfoliate

Cells die everyday and if you don't get rid of them from time to time, they will set in on your skin and take away all the glow and shine from your skin. Even if you use a lotion, it will not be able to match up to exfoliation. Use a body scrub of your choice and and rub it in circular motions on complete body from shoulders to toe. Use a different exfoliator for your face. Add it to your skin care ritual and do it 2-3 times a week. This is a best solution to protect your skin in summer season.

Sunscreen

A  good sunscreen with UV-A and UV-B  with SPF ranging from SPF 30- SPF 70 would be a right choice for any skin. Besides saving from stubborn tan, they can damage skin cells and cause fine lines, age spots, fasten aging etc. use a good sunscreen lotion even if you are staying indoors.

Hydrate

Drink at least 8-9 glasses of water a day. It is also good to drink coconut water, fresh fruits juices which can help you to stay hydrated and also flush toxins from your body. You can also add buttermilk and yoghurt to your diet. It is one of the best summer skin care tip for anyone.

Moisturize

Use a non-greasy moisturizer with antioxidants like Vitamin C and Vitamin A. Using a SPF included moisturizer will be even more preferable. Your lotion should be light and absorbed quickly into your skin. Apply your moisturizer after you are done with shower.

Reduce make-up

Minimizing make-up during summers is good for your skin. It prevents your skin from breathing. You can use tinted moisturizer if you want to use make-up or even use a foundation with SPF.

Natural remedies

Even simple ingredients from your kitchen work wonders to soothe and refresh your skin. You can even use some lemon and tomato as a scrub. Use tomato juice and freeze them into ice cubes. Use it on your before shower.

Eyes and lips

Eyes and lips are sensitive parts on your face. Make sure to wear sunglasses and use a lip balm to protect your lips from harsh sun rays. Use cold water to wash your eyes when you come back from outside and you can even use potato juice.

Use moisturising under eye gel and make sure to use a lip balm with SPF in it.

Breathable fabrics

Make sure to wear loose, breathable cotton clothes. Avoid tight clothes and also dark coloured clothes. Wear something lightweight and light in colour clothes. Synthetic and dark colour fabrics cause skin irritation, making you sweat more and itchy.

Face wash

Oily skins tend to be more oilier during summers. Use a face wash that can cleanse and exfoliate all the dead cells, oil and dirt from your skin. If you have dry skin, use a mild cleanser. Make sure your cleanser is mild and alcohol free.

Use toner

A toner helps in closing opened pores and prevent the sweat and oil from clogging the pores. You can use any aloe vera or cucumber based toners which are both refreshing and also effective skin solution for summers. 

Avoid sugar

Sugary aerated drinks do not hydrate your body, instead they make you sluggish. In addition they are unhealthy and add more weight gain. Instead of sugary drinks drink coconut water, lemon juice etc.

Eat seasonal fruits

Include seasonal fruits  and vegetables such as cucumber, watermelon, muskmelon, citrus fruits etc in your diet. They not only hydrate your body but also maintain your skin health.

Shower regularly

It is important to take a quick shower at least twice a day. It helps in maintaining hygiene. Taking a proper bath will help you get rid of sweat, dirt and also prevent any microbial infections. It also helps in preventing rashes. 

Stay in shade

Make sure to avoid direct sunlight especially during the harshest hours from 12 noon to 4 or 5 in the evening. Make sure to stay in shade between those hours. You might even use an umbrella or even a hat if you have to go out during these hours.
