Can smoking reduce sperm count?

Smoking

Smoking is a practice or a habit in which a substance is put to burn at the oral cavity and the resulting smoke is breathed in and breathed out to be tasted and absorbed into the bloodstream.

The different smoking substances are tobacco and cannabis, majorly.

The smoke is destined to reach the heart located in the volume spaced lungs and take the route of going out again as same as inhalation and exhalation involved in respiration.

Before we come to know whether smoking would impact sperm count related to the reproductive system, we first look at what is sperm, sperm count, low sperm count, and abnormal sperm production.

Sperm & Semen

Semen is the substance that is ejaculated by the male reproductive system, namely genital, and contains the sperm. Several glands contribute material to the semen as the sperm make their way from the seminal vesicles to the environment outside the male body.

Semen is a white fluid substance that cum out of the penis's open end through the male urethra during orgasm whereas sperm is a mandatory cell body in the semen that with sperm, semen has got nothing to do.

Sperm cannot directly see the face of the earth nor come out of the male genital body. It needs a medium to pass out from the body which is none other than semen.

The purpose of sperm is to fertilize the female egg whereas the purpose of semen is to help the sperm make its way to the egg.

The semen fluid is made mostly of water, plasma, and mucus whereas sperm is a minute spermatozoa cell that equals the size of 1/1600th of an inch.

The semen ejaculated at one shot of the penis through sexual stimulation contains at least to least 500 million sperm cells.

Sperm is a spermatozoa cell found in semen. Semen is the production of testosterone hormone present in men. Sperm is also considered as semen, the one and only high viscous energy substance excreted from the mind's sexual power.

Coming to sperm production, the testes are responsible for making testosterone, the primary male sex hormone, and for producing sperm. The testes contain coiled masses of tubes called seminiferous tubules that are responsible for producing the sperm cells through a process called spermatogenesis.

The normal spermatozoal content of semen amounts to 28-225 million per milliliter.

What is a low sperm count?

A low sperm count is the condition of semen that is produced by the testicles in the male human body in correspondence to the reproductive system.

A low sperm count could lead to a low fertility count. A low fertility count does not mean infertility but contains various lags and deficiencies. For suppose, low sperm semen cannot guarantee a healthy by-product.

A low sperm count is fewer than 15 million sperm per milliliter of semen or fewer than 39 million per ejaculation. A low sperm count is considered to be anything between 10 and 20 million sperm per milliliter.

Semen could be less dense with the presence of less number of sperm in it. Low-quality semen is a subject of a low fertility count. Low sperm semen possesses less viscosity resulting in its inability to engage connected to open the ovary eggs. The low fertility count makes the semen go faster and diluted inside the vaginal cavity that it almost becomes like urine-like fluidity, losing access to succumb to female fertilizers.

Abnormal Sperm production

Sperm production Is the content of the whole male reproductive system. Due to various conditions observed internally and outwardly, few men are conditioned to abnormal sperm production. The abnormality would lead to infertility.

There are three types of abnormal sperm production varying with how different the sperm count is. They are,

Azoospermia

The complete absence of sperm cells in the ejaculated orgasm is called semen in men. This could be due to a complete disorder of testosterone or duct glands.

Oligospermia

This condition leads to watery semen. That is, the semen content has less sperm. The fluid of semen is so liquid that it is supposed to be semi-liquid.

Teratospermia

The thick semen ejected through a penile erection is called Teratospermia. The thickness of semen is more than required with a high proportion of sperm resulting in an abnormal shape.

Does smoking lower sperm quality and quantity?

As smoking is subjected to getting contained into the bloodstream, nerve stimulation, muscle contraction, and extraction, there is definitely some kind of impact on the reproductive system, too, for the reproductive system is a whole collaboration of muscle work function, nervous system, and blood flow and circulation.

Tobacco smoking is known to be reducing sperm count whereas weed smoking is known to increase sperm concentration.

Some of the chemicals found in tobacco smoke are not sperm or semen-friendly, which are Nicotine, Hydrogen cyanide, Formaldehyde, Lead, Arsenic, Ammonia, Benzene, Carbon monoxide, Tobacco-specific nitrosamines, Radioactive elements such as polonium-210.

These chemicals contaminate the blood and body parts which could only dilute sperm production, too.

Smoking is also well known to damage testicles and their producing testosterone hormones. The dysfunction of testes would only impact the production of semen which constitutes sperm as the main component.

The intake of smoke into the body releases chemicals that could replace the natural hormones produced in the body resulting in various malfunctions including reproductive health problems.

Cannabis contains Cannabidiol (CBD), a chemical that impacts the brain, making it function better without giving it a high along with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which has pain-relieving properties. These properties could help the body relax such that stress relief could help the reproductive system work better. However, the regular use of cannabis could damage sperm production.
