Different types of hair therapies

Hair therapy

What is hair therapy

We all love experimenting with our air and trying our different things to see what suits us the most. This is where a lot of people get pampered, however, using chemicals on your hair to make them look a certain way has never ended well.

Today we will be talking about a few hair therapies that may look absolutely gorgeous but they can cause harm to your hair. If you have chemically treated your hair then you need to take care of them more than usual hair.

Here we have some hair therapies for you that can make your hair look gorgeous but may also damage them at the same time.

Keratin is a protein that is essential for our hair, it helps in reducing the frizziness of the hair and is great for people with dull and damaged hair. Keratin also helps in making your hair look shiny and glossy, this treatment can last you upto 3-6 months depending on how well you have managed the hair and taken care of it.

If you are someone who uses heat for styling your hair then, keratin may not be the right way to go for you as you can not use heat on your hair after keratin.

Keratin is a form of protein and if you want to naturally enhance your hair texture you can eat the following food item.

  • Blueberries
  • Red meat
  • Almonds
  • Oysters
  • Milk
  • Eggs
  • Salmon
  • Nuts
  • Yogurt
  • Chicken

Keratin procedure begins with washing your hair, the second step is to apply keratin on your hair strands and leave them for about 30 minutes. After this you need to comb your hair and use a flat iron to straighten your hair. It is advised that you do not wash your hair or tie them for at least 3 days after getting keratin done.

Keratin treatments do not have any significant side effects but it is advised that if you are pregnant then you should avoid getting this treatment as chemicals used in them may be harmful.

Hair straightening

Well, permanent hair straightening is different from regular hair straightening, a permanent one may last you for a couple of years until your new hair starts to grow whereas a regular hair straightening may last you only a few days until you wash your hair.

Permanent hair straightening is also often called chemical straightening or rebonding. The process of this type of hair therapy requires chemicals, the process starts by applying the chemical to break the bonds of your hair shaft first and then rebonding them into a straighter texture.

This hair therapy can make your hair straight and can make you feel shiny and glossy but the chemical and heat used in this method can severely damage your hair follicles. In the worst-case scenario you can also end up burning your hair and your hair texture will never be the same after a heavy dose of chemical infusion. Please be woke and talk to your stylist before going ahead with a permanent hair straightening.

If you want a temporary hair straightening you can use an iron rod, before doing it you can apply a hair protectant that will protect your hair from heat damage.

Hair coloring

Oh, don't we all love a nice hair color? But is it safe to use, earlier when chemically infused hair colors were not available our ancestors used to create dyes using different ayurvedic plants which would not only bring gorgeous color to our hair that were actually good for them.

Today we have so many brands that have come up with their hair color range and you can choose from a blond to purple within a second, however, these are highly damaging to our scalp. Chemicals in hair colors and dyes irritate our scalp, unbalancing the natural pH balance, and can also lead to severe hair fall.

If you are someone who wants to color their hair then you can go ahead with it but make sure you keep your scalp healthy and maintain a healthy diet so it does not affect your scalp too much. After hair color care is essential to use the appropriate shampoo and conditioner.

Permanent perming

We all love gorgeous curls, some of us are lucky to have been born with natural curls but what do you do if you want to get them? Perm!

Just like hair straightening, permanent perming also requires chemical alteration to make your hair curly. Normally perming can last up to 6 months but it also depends on how well you take care of your hair.

Perming can also cause damage to your hair similar to hair straightening as it also involves chemical work and can end up making your hair damaged and dry.

There are a lot of different types of perms that you can choose from according to your taste. Here are some of them:

  • Spiral perm
  • Body wave
  • Spot perm
  • Pin curl perm
  • Multi-textured perm

Post perm you must take extra care of your gorgeous hair to make sure they are not damaged by the chemical and heat. You can regularly massage your hair, apply a hair mask to ensure they are nourished and healthy.

Take Away

All hair therapies can cause damage to your hair so make sure you consult your stylist before going for any of them. If you have hair fall and brittle hair then please do not go for any of the hair therapies as they can seriously damage your hair. We hope you liked our blog, be aware of what you want, and do thorough research on it beforehand.
